UMID ID

The Unified Multi-Purpose ID was first issued in 2010 to create a national identification system.

It was limited since we now have a separate National ID, but the UMID is still valid.

The UMID is being issued by the Social Security System for the private sector and GSIS for the public sector.

If you cannot get an ID from either SSS or GSIS, you can apply for it through PhilHealth.

UMID is free of charge for first-time applicants.

Requirements to apply for UMID?

Generally, you have to fill out an application form whether you are applying through SSS or GSIS.

If you applied online through SSS, you need to go to their SSS branch for the taking of the following:

  • biometric data
  • a printed copy of SS Number application
  • transaction number slip

If you are applying through GSIS, you cannot apply for it online, and you still need to submit your requirements to a physical branch, unlike SSS.

It is easiest to apply through SSS if you are a first-time applicant.

Take note that not all SSS branches accept UMID applications, but you can apply to other branches as long as you have an SS ID and at least one posted contribution.

If you are applying for your UMID ID for the first time, you do not have to pay for anything.

However, you need to pay P200 as a replacement fee if your UMID ID is lost or you need to update some details.
