From the work data entry, you’ll be mostly just typing in this type of job. For this reason, it’s one of the best online jobs for students in the Philippines.
You just have to know how to follow instructions and type fast. You also need to be great at using software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs and more.
Overall, this is a great first job for those looking to break into the world of online freelancing.
2. Content Writer
How much you can earn: $10-$40/1,000 words
If you love English like me, then content writing is definitely the perfect job for you. This is one of the best online part-time jobs around as you don’t need to have a constant internet connection to write.
You also don’t need to be good at English to be a content writer. You just need to have great research skills and good comprehension. As for the software, you’ll just be mainly using the word docs.
I’ve started writing travel and pet articles in 199jobs.com where I made ₱200 per article. Now, I charge around $25/1,000 words. There was even a time where I made over 100k in just a month. This is why I can say that this is a great online job for students especially those that love to write!

Businesses naturally want to reach more customers. And a lot of them are using the internet to do just this. Your job as a social media manager is to help manage and grow your client’s social media pages such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok and even YouTube.
Of course, you’d need to learn how to do online marketing first before you can do this job. But as someone who uses these sites a lot, you are already at an advantage.
4. Blogging/Vlogging

Since I’m an online content writer, I’ve thought of other online jobs at home I can do. One of the things I’ve come across as a great way to earn passive income is blogging.
In 2018, I created Peso Hacks which is the blog you’re reading now. In more than a year, I’ve got a bunch of articles now ranking on the first page of Google. Because of this, I’ve continuously earned money even though it’s not a lot.

A great online job for students in the Philippines is to create digital portraits. A lot of people like the style of digital portraits since they’re simple and modern to look at.
My sister who’s a college student earns thousands per month creating line arts. She can easily create one line art in a few hours which allows her to earn hundreds of pesos. This is a great way to earn especially if you have a talent for drawing.

I’ve already listed down above all the best possible online jobs for students in the Philippines. But if you’re wondering what is the best for you, you’ll need to take note of these things.
- Choose an online job based on your existing skills and interest. For example, you’re good at drawing – learn how to be a graphic designer!
- Don’t just choose an online job based on the demand for it. You need to really have an interest in it.
- Upskill. For example, if you’re good at drawing, you should also learn other related skills such as website design or video editing.
- Focus on 1-2 online jobs at first. Don’t try every online job there is.
Legit Freelancing Sites to Get Online Jobs Philippines for Students
There are a lot of online freelancing sites claiming to provide online jobs. But as an online freelancer for 2 years now, I can only promote the sites that I’ve tried and are also known to be legit worldwide. Here are they.
1. UpWork
My all-time favorite freelancing site, UpWork is the most popular and largest freelancing site in the world. Without thousands of job posts uploaded hourly and millions of freelancers on the platform, this is where I found my high-paying clients in the past.
But since the platform receives thousands of applications daily, they have strict restrictions for new freelancers. If you want to find freelance work in UpWork, you must first solve the challenge of getting into the platform.
Thankfully, you don’t need to do anything else. Just follow all the steps I’ve listed in this blog post which helped a lot of freelancers to get into UpWork.

2. Onlinejobs.ph
The best alternative to UpWork if you can’t find work there is Onlinejobs.ph. This freelancing site is targeted at Filipino freelancers. I’ve found one of my earliest freelancing jobs on this site!
The great thing about this site unlike UpWork is that you don’t have to pay for connects to submit proposals. Aside from that, they don’t have fees when you earn money.
3. 199Jobs.com
If you are a beginner, then there’s no better platform I recommend most than 199Jobs. Unlike the other platforms, you can mostly earn small amounts of money here.
But even so, this platform helped me earn P30,000 in just several months. Most importantly, it helped me get into the world of freelancing and eventually land high-paying clients on other platforms.
So, whether you’re a beginner freelancer or a student looking for the perfect online job in the Philippines, this is a great place to start!

4. Fiverr
If 199Jobs is a local freelancing site made by Filipinos, Fiverr is its international counterpart. It has basically every feature that you can find in 199Jobs so it’s perfect for those that want to charge more.
Although most freelancers in here charge $5 in the form of gigs, you can definitely charge higher. I’ve seen a lot of Filipino freelancers earn thousands of dollars on this platform. But if you want to earn a lot of money quickly, you should create gigs that are more unique. Basically, you should offer services that not a lot of people are doing on the platform.
5. Appen
Appen has a wide variety of online jobs that you can apply for. There are full-time and part-time online jobs while there are also some microtasks.
You can earn extra money here if you do the microtasks which should only take a few minutes to an hour.
6. Remotask
This is a site that offers online jobs directly although they are just small tasks. Depending on your skills, you can do tasks such as transcription, annotations, categorizations, comparison data collection and more.
These tasks aren’t that hard to do but it takes some learning before you can earn. Overall, I’ve seen a lot of Pinoys earn from this site. This is one of the perfect online jobs for students in the Philippines!
Tips Before you Participate in Online Jobs for Students in the Philippines
1. Find ways to get paid
One of the main concerns of students who want to get into freelancing is that payment gateways such as Paypal need people to be over 18 to sign up. This obviously becomes a problem for students below 18 who want to earn extra money.
Thankfully, there are a lot of solutions for this. One of the ways you can get over this is to just use your family member’s PayPal account to receive payment. But you need to ask for their consent before doing so.
If this isn’t possible, you can then try applying for a GCash account or open a bank account that allows students to do so.
2. Apply and apply until you succeed
Whether a student or not, I’ve seen a lot of people give up on freelancing way too early. That’s to be expected as freelancing isn’t an easy way to earn money. These jobs involve real efforts and skills.
But even so, you shouldn’t give up even if you submit 100 proposals and receive no reply. Personally, I only got my first online job after months of applying!
3. Enhance your portfolio
If your niche is in design, writing or anything that allows you to have a portfolio, then you must enhance it. But before anything, a portfolio is basically a place where you can showcase all your past work to show your skills.
If you don’t have a portfolio yet which is understandable since you’re a beginner, you can create one! If you’re planning to be a video editor, try to edit some videos that will show your skills and upload them to YouTube. Or if you’re planning to be a writer, you can try blogging or guest posting to use as your portfolio.
4. Learn in-demand skills according to your strengths
As I’ve mentioned before, the best way for beginners to start in freelancing is to learn about their strengths first.
- What are you naturally good at?
- What are your hobbies?
- What are some things that people compliment you a lot about?
- What do you enjoy doing the most that can be used in online jobs?
For me, I’ve enjoyed writing ever since high school where I even joined some competitions and became the editor-in-chief of our school paper. This is why I’ve become a content writer and a blogger today earning money at home.
5. Learn to communicate effectively
One of the most powerful traits you can have even as a student is to learn how to communicate effectively. Most Pinoys can converse in English but it’s a different story altogether when trying to communicate with potential clients.
There are a lot of tips I can give you but the most important thing you should know is to be professional and emphatic. Learn how to communicate without sounding too professional and in a way where it shows that you understand them.
For instance, don’t say “Noted, sir”. Instead, you can say, “I understand John”. It’s simple yet you’re showing that you’ve really understand what they’ve said.
